New Year’s Revolutions: once in a generation vinyl sale (15,000+ records) starts Thursday, January 2, 2020!

Friends!

We (Junket: Tossed & FoundTurquoise Vintage / ACME JUNK Co. ) are kicking off the new year at a new pace! Join us as we launch an #EpicRecordSale starting at 4PM on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Junket’s new digs and continuing through the weekend (you guys get a sneak peek at what we’re up to in the new, not-yet-ready-for-prime-time, space because when ToniCraig, and I unearthed a vintage record collection (20+ years in a warehouse basement), we couldn’t resist the opportunity to throw a treasure-hunting party like none any of us could have pulled off alone!

Roughly 15,000 albums will be available for purchase this coming weekend. It is our intention to liquidate the entire inventory of records before Monday. Any records remaining on the sales floor at the end of the sale on Sunday will be available on a buyer-takes-all(-responsibility-for-removing-them-promptly) basis. If you’ve got a record shop (or you want to launch one), this will be a great opportunity (feel free to DM us on social).

Here are some pics. Read on for additional event and venue details.

event address: 2642 University Avenue West, Saint Paul MN 55406 (yes, this is where Junket is setting up our new HQ)

hours & pricing:
thursday early-bird: 4-9pm ($10 cash entry fee), $10/album, 45’s $5
friday 10-6 – $10/album, 45’s $5
saturday 10-6 – $5/album, 45’s $2
sunday 10-6 – $2/album, 45’s $1

Even BETTER?  While we’re slinging records, our friends from joyface poetry & arts collective will be throwing a fête of their own – including art for sale and DJs spinning tunes (perhaps from our very own trove?) in the same building as the record sale all weekend long. They’ve even made some special vinyl-inspired art just for you guys, so maybe clear off a wall or two at home before heading this way…

Details linked here (join us!):

Back to those 15,000 records, though:

We don’t know 78s, and haven’t had time to review the boxes (beyond seeing juke box numbers and stuff from the 20s and 30s), so our regular album pricing/schedule sequence ($10/5/2) will also apply to entire books of 78s (i.e. $10 per album of 78s, including both the book and the shellac discs contained within it). We’ve admittedly been lucky to even get all of the box lids removed…do not tell Amanda Petrusich we’re doing this because we’d never hear the end of it.

Most accessories, including Platter Paks, record displays, turn tables, S-crates, and other non-vinyl merchandise will remain full price through the weekend; unsold items will head to Turquoise or Acme (or eBay/shopjunket.com) after the weekend is a wrap.

Many of the products being used to organize and hold records will be available for sale. Items that are actively holding inventory (crates, boxes, industrial carts, etc.) may be purchased during the event and picked up after the sale has ended.

So, yeah. 15,000 records. More than that, even, we reckon. 33s, 45s, 78s. Rock & Roll, Easy Listening, Kitsch, Country, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Bing & Frank & Ella & Sly & his Family Stone & Big Band & Symphonic renditions of so much more…. Square Dancing music? Check. Billy Graham Cowboy Testimonials? Eww, but check (and the cover art is SOMETHING).

In fact, the range of cover art ALONE may be enough for you junk journalists & book artists… wait until Sunday, grab some of those collection-sized albums, and get to work… (of course, best to wait until *after* the record collectors have had their chance to cull collectibles & nostalgia from the mix). Yes, it might be a travesty to turn some of this into creative fodder, but the bigger travesty would have been to have 15,000 records get thrown away, leaving none of them for none of you, so lets all play nicely, ok?

Happy 2020! See you SOON.
